Prefontaine Running Squad Chasing Speed and Pride in Montreal
Prefontaine Running Squad was born in 2019 when three queer women returned from the Chicago Marathon and saw a gap in Montreal's east end. They sparked a crew around a simple philosophy, pleasure, pride, and performance, that drives every Wednesday night run. Today, 25 runners strong, the squad moves through the city's streets with speed and focus, welcoming anyone ready to work for it. They gather at Mutoïde Microbrasserie on Rue de Marseille each Wednesday at 5:30 pm, taking a different route each week and sharing a cold beer at the finish.
