Mindset Movement: Cultivating Strength and Community Through Running in Cape Town
Mindset Movement began in Cape Town in September 2020, founded by Kyle. Emerging during a time marked by widespread uncertainty and isolation, this running crew quickly became a source of resilience and personal transformation for its members. Kyle’s own journey—from overcoming addiction to conquering physical and mental challenges—shaped the crew’s foundation. His story of endurance, including virtual ascents of Kilimanjaro and desert navigation, now inspires Mindset Movement’s growing community. Today, the crew unites over 70 runners who share a commitment to self-improvement and mutual support.
A Creed of Positivity and Perseverance
Mindset Movement is guided by principles that emphasize mental toughness, physical fitness, and a refusal to accept negativity or excuses. The crew’s mantra—no negativity, no excuses, always give your best—reflects the belief that running can foster profound personal growth. This mindset fuels members to push beyond limits while encouraging kindness and acceptance. Everyone is welcomed regardless of background, with the only requirement being a shared dedication to progress and a positive outlook.
Where Souls and Soles Unite
The crew thrives on its diverse membership, which includes runners from all walks of life, creating a tightly knit community centered on encouragement and inclusivity. The energy within Mindset Movement is marked by shared goals and supportive camaraderie, where individuals motivate each other to overcome challenges. This atmosphere transforms routine runs into meaningful experiences and friendships that extend beyond the trails and streets of Cape Town.
Structured Sessions Designed for Growth
Mindset Movement organizes six weekly sessions tailored to various fitness levels. Early morning runs take place Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:19 to 6:29 am, while Tuesday and Thursday sessions feature high-intensity interval training at Truekrav gym on Roeland Street starting at 5:55 am and ending at 6:59 am. Saturdays are reserved for longer runs and hikes starting at 6:29 am, showcasing Cape Town’s scenic diversity. This varied schedule allows members to experience different terrains and training styles in a safe, inclusive setting.
A Welcoming Space for Visitors and Locals
Though Mindset Movement maintains a close community of over 70 members, visitors are warmly invited to join with a week-long trial available. The crew offers tailored training packages and personalized coaching from Kyle and his colleague Didier to support individual goals. This openness reflects their commitment to growing a community united by shared values and aspirations for health and strength.
