Ghetto Run Crew Occupying the Streets of Rio de Janeiro Since 2013
Ghetto Run Crew was born in Rio de Janeiro's North Zone in 2013, when a group of women reclaimed the streets through running. Founded on the belief that transformation and respect require only the will to show up, the crew has grown to around 20 runners from diverse backgrounds who move together through the city's neighborhoods. The streets became their track, the hood their home base. Tuesday nights at Santo Cristo and Sunday evenings at Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium are when Ghetto Run Crew gathers, no pace requirements, no sign-ups needed. Just come by and run.
