Discovering Birmingham’s Running Community with FUN NOT FAST
Are you a runner in Birmingham looking for a community that values fun and social connections as much as it does pace and mileage? Look no further than FUN NOT FAST, a running crew founded in June 2020 by Daniel.
Finding Inspiration in International Running Clubs
Daniel has been an avid runner for several years, and his passion for running has been fueled by the sense of community he discovered in running clubs and crews worldwide. However, he noticed a lack of running clubs in his area and decided to take matters into his own hands.
The Birth of FUN NOT FAST
Lockdown provided the perfect opportunity for Daniel to start his own running club. The group focuses on combining easy running, community, and coffee while finding ways to give back to the local and broader community. He created a logo, set up an Instagram account, and began spreading the word.
Making a Difference with Charitable Initiatives
FUN NOT FAST’s first charitable initiative is to collect donations for a local food bank. Daniel plans to introduce more contributions and ideas to support the community as the group continues to evolve and grow.
Exploring Birmingham’s Beauty on Foot
FUN NOT FAST plans to showcase the beauty of Birmingham by using different cafes as meeting points and planning various routes around the canal system and parks to connect different suburbs. This is a great way to explore the city while getting fit and healthy.
Discovering the City’s Diverse Food and Drink Offerings
Another benefit of running with FUN NOT FAST is discovering Birmingham’s diverse food and drink offerings. Daniel plans routes around the city and aims to incorporate stops at local cafes and restaurants, making running a fun and social experience.
Join FUN NOT FAST for a Saturday Run
The group meets on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am in Sutton Park. The pace is around 5-5:30 per KM, and the group meets at the Banners Gate Park entrance. Join them for a fun and social run that combines running, community, and exploring the beauty of Birmingham.
