CairoRunners Bringing Community and Movement to Egypt's Capital
CairoRunners was born in December 2012 when founder Ibrahim gathered more than 60 runners to carve out something rare in one of the world's densest cities: a safe, healthy space to run. What started as a radical act has grown into Egypt's most vibrant run community, with around 2,500 runners showing up each Friday. Every week, the crew rotates through Cairo's neighbourhoods, chasing cleaner air and quieter roads as the sun rises. From first-timers to seasoned marathoners, the rotating routes and rotating energy mean no two Fridays feel the same. For CairoRunners, running is an act of community, resilience, and reclaiming the city one kilometre at a time.
