Urban Run Project is a social running group that was set up in June 2018. It takes place every Thursday in Sandymount, Dublin at 7:00 pm. The run is a scenic 5KM route by the sea, with different groups of running levels. URP aims to welcome all levels of runners including beginners so there is always an option to opt out of a few KM or slow down the pace and walk for a bit. It’s also completely free! There are no professional running coaches but we find that our runners learn a lot from their peers. One of the things that people always say about URP is that they never thought they could run and talk at the same time! Generally, we usually chat along the way and it can be a great way to pass the time and great encouragement! I think something we don’t broadcast enough is that we also always have water and snacks at the end of the run to quickly refuel! We meet back at our warm-up point and chill out and catch up for a while. We also sometimes go for a swim in the sea afterwards (when the weather is nice!) I set up URP with two friends last summer because a friend of kin had moved to London and joined Run Dem Crew! We realised there was no running crew culture in Ireland yet so we started our own. 30 people came to our first run!
