SD Runners – Hong Kong running crew exploring the city
The Birth of SD Runners
In 2012, two visionary individuals, Domi and Tom, had the idea to establish a running crew in the heart of Hong Kong. SD Runners was born as a platform for graduates and students from The PolyU School of Design and other creative industries to unite, bond over their shared passions, and challenge the prevailing assumptions about their work-life balance. With a primary focus on promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, SD Runners quickly grew into a tight-knit community that transcended the boundaries of running.
Embracing the Running Culture in Hong Kong
Hong Kong, a bustling metropolis known for its iconic skyline, vibrant culture, and picturesque landscapes, is the perfect backdrop for SD Runners’ exciting adventures. The city’s diverse terrain, ranging from hilly trails to urban streets, offers an exhilarating running experience for both novices and seasoned runners. SD Runners takes full advantage of this diverse landscape by organizing regular group runs that showcase the city’s hidden gems and iconic landmarks.
Exploring Iconic Routes with SD Runners
SD Runners’ weekly run begins at the renowned PolyU campus, where members eagerly gather every Wednesday evening. With the starting point established, the crew explores different routes each time, ensuring every run is a fresh and exciting experience. Whether it’s a scenic coastal trail along the Victoria Harbour or a challenging ascent up Victoria Peak, SD Runners never ceases to surprise its members with their selection of routes.
Uniting Through Running
SD Runners prides itself on creating a community and fostering connections among its members. Each run allows individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together, leaving behind the stresses of everyday life and embracing the mutual love for running. What sets SD Runners apart is the shared belief that running is not merely a form of exercise but also a means of building lasting friendships and supporting one another’s goals.
One of the most delightful aspects of being an SD Runner is the post-run dining experience. After each run, the crew carefully selects a different restaurant or eatery, offering members a chance to refuel, relax, and bond over a satisfying meal. SD Runners ‘ post-run destinations are as diverse as the city, from hidden local gems serving authentic Cantonese cuisine to trendy international eateries. It’s the perfect opportunity for runners to unwind, exchange stories, and forge stronger connections.
