Running with the Runnersheep: The Fastest Growing Running Crew in Seoul

Seoul, the vibrant and bustling capital of South Korea, is known for its stunning architecture, delicious cuisine, and rich cultural heritage. However, another aspect of the city that’s gaining popularity among the younger generation is the running culture. One particular crew that has caught the attention of many runners in the city is the Runnersheep, founded by Seowoohyun and Paikhaeyohg on November 1, 2022.

Discovering the Running Culture

Seowoohyun’s passion for running started when he joined the ‘Running with Kyunghee’ crew during his freshman year at Kyunghee University. He found himself drawn to the concept of running and later joined a full-course marathon training project called ‘Challenge the Impossible.’ This project allowed him to meet inspiring individuals and discover the running culture’s true essence.

Introducing the Runnersheep

In Korea, the concept of zodiac signs is referred to as DDI. Seowoohyun and Paikhaeyohg were born in 2003, making them the sheep DDI. Thus, they founded the Runnersheep crew, comprised of members born with the same DDI. The name ‘Runnersheep’ has a double meaning. First, it refers to runners born with the sheep DDI, who are the new, upcoming leaders of the running culture. Second, it’s a play on the word’ leadership,’ with ‘sheep’ referencing the crew’s birth year.

Creating a Community

The Runnersheep crew is Seoul’s youngest and fastest-growing running crew, with over 40 members. Their goal and vision are to create a community where friends of the same age can run, play, learn, and grow together. The crew is exclusive, with a membership fee for storage and equipment purchasing. However, the benefits of joining are numerous. Members can participate in weekly runs every Tuesday at 7:00 pm, covering 5-7 kilometres at a pace of 5’30 – 6’00 minutes per kilometre.

In A Nutshell

Runnersheep is a young and dynamic running crew that is quickly making a name for itself in the bustling city of Seoul. With its unique concept of the ‘DDI’ crew and its focus on fostering a sense of community among its members, Runnersheep is genuinely setting itself apart in running crews. The crew’s regular running sessions around the city are a great way to keep fit and an opportunity to explore the beautiful sights and sounds of Seoul. So, if you’re a sheep ‘DDI’ born in 2003 and looking to join a crew that shares your passion for running and making new friends, Runnersheep is definitely the crew for you!
