Kudos Run Crew: Conquering High Altitudes and Growing the Running Culture in Mexico City

In April 2020, three friends—Joselo, Elias, and Majo—came together to create a new running movement in the vibrant metropolis of Mexico City. They founded the Kudos Run Crew with a clear and accessible mission: to inspire runners of every level to fall in love with the sport and empower them to live a better life. From their home base at Paseo Arcos Bosques, they have built a thriving and supportive community that truly embodies the adventurous spirit of their city.

The philosophy of Kudos Run Crew is to be accessible and inclusive to all. The founders believe that a running crew should be a welcoming space for everyone, and they have successfully created an environment that is open to anyone, regardless of their experience, weight, or background. Their ultimate goal is to instill a love for running in every person who joins them, empowering them with the confidence and strength that the sport provides.

From City Parks to Mountain Peaks

The culture of Kudos Run Crew is both incredibly versatile and adventurous. They offer one of the most comprehensive training spectrums of any crew, with a run tailored for every runner's journey. This includes easy runs from 5-30k, tempo runs, track intervals of every distance, and epic long runs that can span from 12k to 60k. What truly sets them apart, however, is their mission to conquer the highest zones of the city. Taking full advantage of their high-altitude home, the crew organizes challenging runs at elevations ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 meters above sea level, building immense endurance and mental toughness.

Kudos Run Crew extends a warm invitation to all runners in Mexico City, especially those on the western side, to unite and explore the heart of the city. Their beautiful meeting point at the park in Paseo Arcos Bosques is the perfect place to start a morning run, stretch, and connect with fellow runners. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned athlete, their inclusive community is ready to welcome you.

The Mexico City Running Scene

Kudos Run Crew is a key part of Mexico City's thriving and diverse running ecosystem. The city is a vibrant hub for running crews, including other inspiring communities such as the creative DROMO Run Crew, the journey-focused Exodus Running Community, and the socially driven The Gang Running Club. This dynamic tapestry of crews, woven with threads of passion and determination, ensures a supportive network for every type of runner.

Mexico City, the sprawling capital of Mexico, is a playground for runners. The city's high altitude presents a natural challenge that helps to increase endurance and build mental toughness. Its mild climate, scenic parks, and vibrant urban landscapes have made it a popular destination for runners from all over the world.

The home base for Kudos Run Crew is Paseo Arcos Bosques, an idyllic park setting on the city's western side that serves as the perfect starting point for their runs. Their high-altitude adventures take them to the majestic volcanic peaks that surround the city. For city-based runs, a central oasis is the magnificent Chapultepec Park, one of the largest city parks in the Western Hemisphere. The premier racing event in the city is the Mexico City Marathon, an annual extravaganza that weaves its way through iconic neighborhoods and takes runners past historic landmarks, starting from the iconic Zócalo square.
