Golden Gate Running Club (GGRC) runs hard and plays hard. Some of our members are serious athletes training for marathons or ultras, while others enjoy casual runs at a conversational pace. We are united by our enthusiasm for running among friends in the most beautiful city in California. Our focus is on the community, and we try to cater for most needs. We have regular runs, a formal race calendar including destination races, monthly happy hours and an annual banquet so that we can deliver fitness and friendship, and help people reach their goals.
We have a Board comprising of members who volunteer their time and service for a year (or sometimes more) and are elected by the members. We are a non-profit, offer our time and expertise for free, and member dues go towards subsidizing race fees and accommodation, providing snacks at happy hour, subsidizing the annual banquet, and hosting an annual BBQ. Our aim is to give everything back to members and create a community that we can all be proud of.
We have two regular group running events every week. Wednesday Track practice at Kezar Stadium. Sunday Run starting at Warming Hut (Crissy Field). Our members also do “unofficial runs” for a run during the week or on Saturdays.
