Flames Barcelona

Aitor and Fabien met in 2016 when they started running with Nike+ Running Club Barcelona led by Oualid as the head pacer.

During this time a friendship has developed between some runners and pacers. After Oualid introduced us the running crew culture, we decided to found Flames Barcelona in May 2018. No such crew existed in Spain.

For our crew name, we wanted something that was easy to remember and pronounce in both Catalan and English. The dragon is a reference to the San Jordi dragon from the Catalan tradition. Our crew colours yellow and red refer to Catalunya, the region we are living in.

Our goals with Flames Barcelona:

  • Don’t stop having fun running. As a group of people, we are bound by running and we intend to keep enjoying each other’s company.
  • Contribute something new to the running scene in Barcelona. From our perspective as everyday runners, we think there are too many run clubs and standard races. There’s more than that.
  • Give back to the community. We’re not here for money or attention, but in the event, we would give it directly in a socially meaningful way.
